It was all Cummings in terms of scoring last night.
He scored two field goals, a touchdown, and a PAT all in the second period to lead the Kapa’a JV to a 13-7 victory at Hanapepe Stadium onFriday evening.
Cummings’ first field goal, a 35-yarder, came with 5:30 left in the half. He continued to up the ante as he pulled in a 30-yard pass reception from QB Kai Lopez at the 2:13 mark. Cummings’ PAT boot was good, and he added the icing with a 34-yard field goal with just 16 ticks remaining in the first half.
With less than a minute left in the game, Waimea’s Zane Zalopany collects a Bryson Brun pass on the eight-yard line to set up a Menehune score, preventing a shutout.
Kalen Rita scored on the following play on a pass reception from Brun with Bryson Niheu nailing the PAT kick. The effort fell short, however, as Kapa’a wrapped up the 13-7 win behind scoring from Russ Cummings who picked up a pair of field goals.
