Kaua’i’s Mary Bea ASU Hall of Famer
Kaua’i’s Mary Bea Porter-King has received notice that she will be inducted into the Arizona State University’s Hall of Fame for her incredible and eclectic athletic career which eventually landed her a spot in the LPGA.
Porter competed in four sports from 1968-73 at the university (golf, basketball, volleyball, softball). In her senior season, Porter was a first-team All-American in golf and was named the College Athlete of the Year before joining the LPGA in 1973.
Lihu’e Baseball League Registration
Lihu’e Baseball League will be holding registration for the 2001-2002 Shetland and Pinto Seasons on Monday, Nov. 5, through Friday, Nov. 16, Only!
Registration will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday on the above days, at the Lihu’e County Park (Behind Dairy Maid) in the officials’ booth.
Registration fee is $45 ($20 can be offset by fundraising) New players are required to bring 1 copy each of their birth certificate and medical insurance cards.

Po’okela Girl’s
Volleyball Club
Po’okela Girl’s Volleyball Club will be having an informational/sign up meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at Lihu’e Neighborhood Center at 7 p.m. The age level divisions will be 12 and under, 14 and under and 16 and under and 18 and under. The club is a member of the USA Junior Volleyball-Aloha Region. The program starts with tryouts on Dec. 3 and 10, on Sunday afternoons. Actual practices will start in Jan. 2002. Come hear more about the Club philosophy, goals, and meet the coaching staff. For those who are interested please call Richard Roberts at 332-7083, so we can get an idea of how many will be attending. Parents need to be present with their daughter.

Nukumoi Surf
Co. contest
The second contest of the Nukumoi Surf Co. series will take place at Polihale Beach Park November 17 and 18.
Of the age groups competing there will be the Menehune (12-U), the Boys (13-14), the Junior Men (15-17), Open Men (18-24) the Girls (17-U), Boys Bodyboard (14-U) Junior Bodyboard (15-17), Mens Bodyboard (18-0ver) and the Drop Knee (open).
