Both Kaua’i Red Raider bowling teams took the boy’s and girl’s KIF Championship following last Saturday’s sixth KIF bowling match.
Both teams ended up with a respectable 3.5 points a piece and will travel to Oahu to compete in the State Championships.
Both Kapa’a and Kaua’i tied last Saturday’s sixth boy’s KIF bowling match with a score of five (the tie awards each team a half a point). In KIF point standings, Kaua’i leads the league with 3.50, Kapa’a follows with 1.50, and Waimea trails with 1 point.
Kapa’a’s Cory Napoleon and Waimea’s John Mission tied for the highest scorers with 224. Tynai Napoleon from Kapa’a followed with 198. Warrior Sam Tupou rounded up the high scorers with 190.
Kapa’a led in total pins with 2,476, Kaua’i notched 2,421 and Waimea scored 2,419.
In the girl’s KIF bowling match, Waimea won in total match points with 8, Kaua’i followed with 4 match points, and Kapa’a scored zero.
In KIF league standings, Kaua’i leads with 3.5 points, Waimea is second with 2.5, and Kapa’a remains with zero points.
Virginia Aguilar led the girls with 184, Ashley Dela-cruz from Waimea scored 181.
Waimea dominated last weekend’s match in total pins with 2,226, Kaua’i followed with 1,815, and Kapa’a followed with a score of 1,717.
There will be individual bowlers invited to compete in the State Championships, but the KIF has not determined who will be going as of yet.
Sam Choy’s State Bowling Championships will take place at Leeward Bowl on Thursday, Nov. 8, in Oahu. The compettion will ensue the next day, Nov. 9, also at Leeward Bowl.
