The Red Raiders were bangedup going into last night’s contest against Kapa’a at Vidinha Stadium.
And the Warriors took major advantage of it, taking it to the Red Raiders 41-14.
The Warrior’s began with an 11-yard touchdown run from WR Jud McRoberts early in the first quarter, making it 7-0.
One possession later, Kapa’a’s QB Allen Iloreta ran in for a two-yard score and seven more points.
RB Dabson Gonzales wouldrun for a 39-yard touchdown towards the end of the first half, and the score would remain 21.
The Red Raiders had one extremely successful 80-yard drive on their first possession in the third. Raider QB Kamo’i Refamonte launched a 30-yard bomb to WR Kyle Higashi to reach the four yard line, and the nimble QB would run it in for seven from there, to make it 21-7.
But Dustin Mundon, who switched from QB to utility for the game, would score his second touchdown, a four-yarder, for another seven.
In the fourth, Kapa’a marched to a second Dustin Mundon touchdown run, this time from one yard out, making it 35-7.
Kaua’i came back to score one more Refamonte touchdown, but Dustin’s brother, Byron Mundon, would get his first touchdown on the ensuing possession, to make it 41-14.
The Warrior’s were abusing the hole in the linebacker spot to no end. Kaua’i’s defensive line did a good job halting the Kapa’a running game inside, but without Goias, their linebackers were not quick enough to catch Warrior runners on the outside.
The Warriors ran for over 206 yards on the Red Raider’s ailing defense. Gonzales had an incredible night, picking up 145 yards on 13 carries. Mundon carried the ball for 60 yards and two big touchdowns.
