For the second time in the past two months, Kaua’i County Police have conducted a raid on marijuana growing operations.
Working in conjunction with state Department of Land and Natural Resources, the police last Tuesday and Wednesday eradicated almost 4,000 marijuana plants growing on Kaua’i. An exact location was not disclosed.
The operation is part of the federal Domestic Cannabis Suppression/Eradication Program.
Two contracted helicopters were utilized for the latest operation.
No arrests were made last week, but an investigation is ongoing, authorities said.
Last week’s raid was the second in the past 45 days. During the last week in August, county police, DLNR agents, plus Army personnel and police officers from other islands destroyed almost 8,500 marijuana plants that ranged from seedlings to five feet tall.
According to police, the value of the plants destroyed during the four-day eradication in August was approximately $8.5 million.
No arrests were made at that time, either, police reported.
