John Tarratt, 32, has been arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a Norwegian tourist late last week in the vicinity of the Hanalei Pier.
According to Lt. Bill Ching of the Kaua’i County Police Department, detectives arrested Tarratt Sept. 20. Attacks on the victim allegedly occurred just after midnight Sept. 19.
Tarratt faces felony and misdemeanor assault charges in connection with the alleged incident. He was arraigned Wednesday this week in District Court in Hanalei, according to county deputy prosecutor Russell Goo.
Goo said that immediately after his arrest, Tarratt posted bail in excess of $35,000 and was released.
Ching said the victim, an adult Norwegian female, and her alleged attacker had met earlier in the evening.
“He is originally from England but he has lived here (on Kaua’i) for a while,” Ching said.
Goo said the victim didn’t require hospitalization after the alleged attack.
