Dian Ewart Miller of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, died Sept. 19, 2001, at Queen’s Medical Center, in Honolulu, HI., at the age of 65.
A homemaker, she was born July 17, 1936, in Honolulu, HI.
She is survived by her husband: Robert L. Miller; two daughters: Lisa A. Coder and Sherry E. Miller; two grandchildren; one sister: Sherill E. Adams; one nephew and numerous cousins.
Friends and family may call on Sunday, Sept. 23, at Borthwick Mortuary Chapel, with visitation at 12:30 p.m. and services at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Koloa Public Cemetery. Family and friends will gather after the services at the Farlander residence at Westside Pharmacy.
Aloha attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Theodore Stafford
Theodore Clay (Ted) Stafford of Kapa’a, died of AIDS Sept. 18, 2001, at home at the age of 48.
A retired attorney, who was once a special assistant to the U.S. Assistant Attorney in Washington, D.C., he was the treasurer of the Board of Directors of Malama Pono Kaua’i AIDS project. He was an AIDS advocate and talked to teens at Kaua’i High School about AIDS.
He devoted his life to helping people infected with and affected by HIV / AIDS. He was on the Board of Directors of Wellspring Foundation and Central Coast Congregate Care of Santa Barbara. He negotiated construction and housing contracts with local, state and federal government agencies and worked with other nonprofit organizations coordinating HIV / AIDS care.
He is survived his companion and soul mate of eight years, Ron Moreno; extended family of Kaua’i, the Michael Koerte family of Hanapepe, Malama Pono family, two sisters and nieces in California and many friends.
A service will be held at Garden Island Mortuary in Lawai on Tuesday, Sept. 25. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with service to follow at noon at the mortuary. Casual attire is suggested. In lieu of flowers, friends may make donations to Malama Pono, where a special fund will be established in his name.
A service will also be at the Saddleback Chapel Mortuary in Orange County, Calif. with interment to follow at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
