Shawnte “Keala” Efhan Jaquias of Lihu’e, died Sept. 22, 2001, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 23.
Born May 22, 1978, in Lihu’e, Kaua’i, she was a mechanic for Sears Auto Repair Shop and also served banquets at the Kaua’i Marriott Hotel.
She is survived by her parents: Bernie “Efhan” Nakae and Harlan Nakae of Kapa’a; father: Marcelino Jaquias, Jr. of Hanama’ulu; one brother: Kaipo (Tivli) Jaquias of Honolulu; two sisters: Jodelle (Jody) Jaquias of O’ahu and Deslynn (Desi) Jaquias of O’ahu; maternal grandparents: Mercy and Sancho Efhan of Kapa’a; paternal grandmother: Beatrice Nakae of Kapa’a and paternal grandmother: Liwanag Jaquias of Hilo; great grandmother: Mary Jamito and great grandmother Sion Blasco, both of Hilo.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 27, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. On Friday, Sept. 28, cremation memorial service will be at Kalapaki Beach where her brother, Kaipo (professional surfer) will be taking her out on his surfboard to have her scattered. Services will be conducted by Kahu Vidinha.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Richard M. Yoshioka
Richard M. Yoshioka of Koloa, Kaua’i, died at his home on Sept. 23, 2001, at the age of 60. A deliverer and salesperson with Hawai’i Baking Co., he was born April 30, 1941, in Koloa, Kaua’i.
He is survived by two daughters: Richelle Yoshioka and Danielle Yoshioka, both of Honolulu, HI; four brothers: Charles (Kimi) Yoshioka of Monterey, Calif., Mizuo (Janet) Yoshioka of Torrence, Calif., Saburo (Edith) Yoshioka of Kalaheo, Kaua’i, and Lindsay (Joyce) Yoshioka, of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; two sisters: Kay (Jack) Higa of Honolulu, HI and Claudia (Les) Nakamura of Honolulu, HI; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Koloa Hongwanji; services officiated by Rev. Earl Ikeda to begin at 4:30 p.m. Casual attire is suggested and that flowers be omitted.
