From TGI Reports
The Department of Education announced Wednesday that out of respect for those affected by Tuesday’s terrorist attacks, all co-curricular activities involving public schools have been canceled from Thursday, Sept. 13 through Sunday, Sept. 16.
For the Garden Island, that means the postponement of Friday’s Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation football game between Kaua’i and Kapa’a.
“I agree with the decision,” Kaua’i athletic director Charlene Quinones said. “There were so many people lost. As Americans, we should be sensitive to that loss.”
The cancellation affects all sporting events, job fairs and professional development activities.
“While there will be much disappointment for some in this action,” Superintendent Paul LeMahieu said, “I am assured that it is possible, given the early point in the year, to reschedule events.”
Quinones said that a KIF meeting is scheduled for Thursday morning at 10:30, where a make-up date for Friday’s game will be discussed.
“Moving the game helps to keep things in perspective,” the AD said.
