Raymond Phillips Sr.
Raymond Phillips Sr. of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Sept. 3, 2001, at the age of 45.
Born in Honolulu, O’ahu on Nov. 29, 1955, he was a maintenance supervisor with Kauai Sands.
He is survived by: his wife: Alberta Phillips of Wailua Homesteads, Kaua’i; two sons: Christopher Almeida and Raymond Phillips, Jr. Both of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai; daughter: Nicole Phillips of Wailua Homesteads, Kaua’i and five brothers: Alfred Rapoza of Hanamaulu, Kaua’i; Rodney (Alberta) Phillips of Honolulu, O’ahu, Donald (Jody) Phillips, Jr. of Glendale, Ariz., Robert (Beverly) Phillips of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai, and Eric Phillips of Wailua Homesteads, Kauai; one sister: Diane (Steve) Rapozo of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at noon on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Garden Island Mortuary Chapel; service to begin at 1 p.m. Casual attire is suggested.
Arrangements are being handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.
Alvin Simao
Alvin B. Simao of Makaweli, Kaua’i, died at Cageyan De Oro, Philippines on May 20, 2001, at the age of 63.
Born in Makaweli, Kaua’i on March 18, 1938. Mr. Simao was a retired technician with AT &T, also a veteran of the United States Air Force.
He is survived by his wife: Judith B. Simao of Malay Blay City, Philippines, son: Steven (Nana) Simao of Vineyard Rd., FL. daughter: Lani Simao of Tennessee, one grandchild, one uncle and numerous aunts, nieces, nephews cousins, relatives and friends
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waimea with Mass officiated by Father Larry. Inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, at the Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe. Aloha attire is suggested.

Sotero Garma
Sotero M. Garma of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i, died on Aug. 23, 2001 at the age of 87.
Born in the Philippines, on April 19, 1914. He was a custodian for First Hawaiian Bank.
He is survived by his wife: Anastacia Damaso Garma, two sons: Mert (Leonida) Garma, Hilario (Vicky) Garma, three daughters: Lillian (Wayne) Garma, Tessie (Cesar) Arucan, Gloria (Joe) Fiesta, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel from 9 a.m. Services was celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial was held at the Kalapaki Bay Memorial Park at Nawiliwili. Casual attire is suggested.
