The 6th Annual Waimea High School Summer Invitational Bowling tournament was held Saturday, Aug. 11 and Sunday, Aug. 12, at Lihu’e Bowling Center.
Waipahu, Konawaena Kapa’a, Kaua’i, Radford and Waimea competed for the boys title.
Kaua’i 1, Kaua’i 2, Waimea and Punahou competed in the girls division.
Waipahu emerged champions of the boys division, defeating Kaua’i in the final. Waimea placed third.
It was a Garden Island sweep in the girls competition. Kaua’i 1 won the title, defeating Waimea in the final. Kaua’i 2 placed third.
Kaua’i’s Kelsi Sakai was the top female bowler. For her nine games, she knocked down a total of 1,473 pins, a 163 average. Second place went to Kaua’i’s Shalea Simao. Waimea’s Megan Mukai took third. Kaua’i’s Jolene Koerte was fourth.
Other Kaua’i girls were Tyrene and Chelsea Kaluahine, Erin Wada, Alyssa Garren, Vicky Tsugawa, Malyssa Garren and Nicole Kubota.
Other Waimea girls were Ashley Dela Cruz, Dyanne Soto, Shantel Duldulao, Cleo Ramos, Virginia Aguilar and Niki Maruyama.
Waimea’s Joshua Peralta was the top male bowler, with a 199 average. Waimea’s John Mission finished third. Kaua’i’s Donovan Pegeder finished seventh. Tynai Napolean, in 12th, was Kapa’a’s best bowler.
Other Waimea participants were Garrison Soto, Riley Shirai, Ryan Nakata, Curtis Kimura, Jaxon Kagawa, Elisha Cubangbang and Anthony Salvador.
Other Kaua’i bowlers were Bryson Koerte, Garren Venzon, Aaron Medina, Eric Tanimoto and C. Macadangdang.
Kapa’a’s bowlers were Sam Tupuo, Justin Ogata, Eric Lum, Lance Tamashiro and Liko Dowling.
