Three graduated members of last year’s Kaua’i High School girls volleyball team have taken their skill to the college ranks.
Danielle Kiyabu, Heather Roberts and Rona Nishikawa, integral parts of the 2000 Red Raider squad that won the Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation title, are expected to get playing time at their respective schools.
Kiyabu will be playing for Embry-Riddle University in Prescott, Ariz. She is planning on majoring in aeronautical science.
Roberts will be plying her trade for William Woods University in Fulton, Mo. She is planning to major in mass communications.
Nishikawa will be playing for NCAA Division II University of Central Oklahoma. The school is located in Edmond.
The three were vital to Kaua’i’s 2000 success, and were part of a unit that earned the Red Raiders the KIF championship for the first time ever.
Kaua’i went through the league with an unblemished 8-0 record before losing in the quarterfinals at the state tournament.
