Kaua’i girls host team from California
The Kaua’i girls volleyball team will face Laguna Beach at the Raiderdome Monday night at 6 p.m.
Laguna is California’s smallest public high school, and is making its first-ever trip to Hawai’i. The Artists are rich in volleyball talent, and feature Sarah Salem at middle blocker. Salem was the 2000 Pacific Coast League MVP and was first-team All-Orange County.
The Red Raiders are the defending Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation champions. Though they lost a number of seniors to graduation, Kaua’i retained a solid nucleus and should again challenge for the KIF title in 2001.
The teams will play a regular match, best three-of-five. There is no cost to attend, but donations will be gladly accepted.
