HONOLULU – U.S. District Judge Helen Gillmor has issued a permanent injunction that forbides the state Department of Land and Natural Resources from applying a rule it adopted in November that would end the Hanalei operations of the last three Na Pali tour boat companies operating out of Hanalei Bay.
The rule would have banned the Hanalei operations of tour boat companies Captain Sundown Catamaran Kuuipo, Hanalei Sport Fishing & Tours, and Na Pali Catamaran.
The three boating companies have been operating tours out of Hanalei under a temporary restraining order issued earlier by Gillmor.
All three companies date the launching of their tour operations back over two decades.
A full text of the ruling is expected to be released in the near future.
