The final-round matches of the Kaua’i Junior Golf Association’s Mitchell Ota Match Play Golf Tournament were played Sunday, Aug. 12, at Wailua Golf Course. The round culminated three weeks of intense junior golf at Wailua.

15-18 Championship Flight
Juston Thomas defeated Eric Wong 2/1 to take the title in the tournament’s highest-profile division
15-18 ‘A’ Flight
Jennie Pleas defeated A.J. Basuel 1up
13-14 Championship Flight
Jordan Cox defeated Stephen Peeren 5/3. Of note is the fact that Cox is just 12 years old
13-14 ‘A’ Flight
Mike Garcia defeated Shelcie Takenouchi 4/2 for the title; Layne Morita beat Chad Nonaka 4/3 for third place
13-14 ‘B’ Flight
Mary Akutagawa defeated Kimberly Yama 4/2 for the title; Clesson Lee beat Bubby Saiki 5/4 for third place
