14-under goodwill hoops tournament
The County of Kaua’i will be putting on the 2001 Girls 14-Under Goodwill Basketball Tournament Thursday, Aug. 9 through Saturday, Aug. 11, at the Kalaheo Neighborhood Center.
The tourney will feature three teams from Kaua’i – Lihu’e (coach Dean Pigao), Kaumakani (Fran Constantino) and the Raiders (Brian Inouye). Maui will be the fourth team in the event.
Thursday, Lihu’e will play Kaumakani at 6 p.m. The Raiders square off against Maui at 7 p.m.
Friday, Lihu’e faces the Raiders at 6 p.m. followed by Maui against Kaumakani at 7 p.m.
Saturday, the Raiders face Kaumakani at 9 a.m. That game will be followed by Lihu’e vs. Maui at 10 a.m.
Cheerleading camp
The University of Hawai’i cheerleaders will be offering the 2001 Youth Camp for girls ages 6-13, August 25-26 at the University of Hawai’i athletic complex.
Cheers, chants, dances and stunts will be taught by the nationally-ranked UH cheerleaders. Camp days are Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m..
The fee is $50 per participant and the deadline for registration is Monday, Aug. 20.

All Girls Rodeo
The Kaua’i All Girls Rodeo Association will hold its next competition on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m. at CJM Country Stables in Poipu.

Lihu’e Pop Warner general meeting
Lihu’e Pop Warner will hold a general membership meeting on Thursday, August 16 at 6:30 p.m. at HGEA Hall at 3213 Akahi St. in Lihu’e. All members are urged to attend, as 2001 season fund-raising will be discussed along with the county fair.
