Two-day youth basketball camp
The Kaua’i Youth Basketball Association has completed a very successful summer of hoops that saw the number of participating teams jump from 29 to 35.
But things don’t stop just yet.
The KYBA is offering a summer youth basketball clinic on August 3-4 for boys and girls competing at the intermediate or high school level.
Aiea High School head coach Fran Kahawaii and her staff will conduct the sessions. They will be sharing the Aiea girls’ basketball system that won the team the 2001 state high school championship.
Sessions will offer tips and technique for offense, defense and combined skill play beginning Friday, Aug. 3 at Kalaheo Neighborhood Center. The program will run all day on Saturday, Aug. 4 at the Kapa’a High School Gym.

Swim and tennis camp final session
The Kaua’i Coconut Beach Resort Tennis Club will be having its “Summer Jr. Tennis and Swim Camp.”
The final session begins Monday, Aug. 6 and runs through August 20. Camp will be held on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Cheerleading camp
The University of Hawai’i cheerleaders will be offering the 2001 Youth Camp for girls ages 6-13, August 25-26 at the University of Hawai’i athletic complex.
Cheers, chants, dances and stunts will be taught by the nationally-ranked UH cheerleaders. Camp days are Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m..
The fee is $50 per participant and the deadline for registration is Monday, Aug. 20.

All Girls Rodeo
The Kaua’i All Girls Rodeo Association will hold its next competition on Sunday, Aug. 12, at 10 a.m. at CJM Country Stables in Poipu.
