LIHU’E – Waianae and Hilo share 2-0 records after Sunday’s 4-game schedule that saw Waianae trounce Maui 11-4 and Hilo shutting down Aiea’s runners on a 7-1 note.
With the wins, Waianae and Hilo will square off against each other Monday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. at the Lihu’e County Park, seat of the Hawai’i Region Mustang tournament.
Maui will open the games on Monday by going up against Mililani starting at 9 a.m. followed by the Windward All Stars taking on Aiea at 11:30.
Both the East Kaua’i and West Kaua’i All Stars were eliminated from tournament play on Sunday after dropping their matches.
East Kaua’i was overpowered by the Windward All Stars 10-2 in the opener, and West Kaua’i suffered at the hands of Mililani pitcher Kylen Cadiam who went the distance in the 4-1 victory.
Cadiam allowed just one run on a pair of hits, walked none, and struck out 6 in his full-game performance.
