KSA to host third annual surfing event
The Kaua’i Surfing Association announces its Third Annual Ho’onua oke kai. The event is sponsored by Quiksilver and the YMCA of Kaua’i.
The July 21-22 event will feature surfing and bodyboarding on both days. On July 22, there will be a rough-water swim from Shipwrecks to Waiohai, a paddleboard race from Prince Kuhio’s to Firstbreak and back to PK’s and a one-man canoe race from PK’s to Shipwrecks and back to PK’s.
Entry for all events is $10, with all proceeds benefiting the Kaua’i Surfing Association. The KSA uses the proceeds to help offset travel expenses for all young surfers from Kaua’i who qualify for the state amateur surfing championships held on Oahu.
Last year’s event, along with the contributions from Kai Kane, Hanalei Surf Co., Progressive Expressions, Nukumoi Surf Co., M. Miura store, YMCA of Kaua’i, and individuals from our community, raised enough money to purchase 63 inter-island coupons to help send our children to Oahu for the last State Surfing Championship.
It will be a weekend of fun and food for all competitors and spectators.
Entry forms are available at all Surf Shops. Contact information for all events are on the entry blanks.
