Christine French and Jason Brown recently announced the promotion of Kolohe Kapu to assistant sales manager at Nukumoi Beach & Surf Shop, across Ho’one Road from Po’ipu Beach Park.
Kapu, a graduate of Kaua’i High School, has worked at the shop since 1999, and is parent company Lealani Corporation’s Employee of the Year for 2000.
He has had extensive sales training, and has proven to be an excellent sales and people person, said French, corporation vice president, and Brown, Nukumoi manager.
“He has great communication and organizational skills,” they said of Kapu.
Prior to his employment at Nukumoi, Kolohe completed a two-year course at the Academy of Travel and Tourism. He was selected the corporation’s 2000 Employee of the Year by his fellow employees at Lealani Corp.
When Kapu is not working, he is very involved with the youth group at Kaua’i Christian Fellowship. “He is the kind of guy that will always give to his community,” Brown said.
Nukumoi Beach & Surf Shop’s Brown has worked at Lealani Corp. since 1997. He was on the pro bodyboard circuit tour from 1989 to 1991, and was a goodwill ambassador for Kaua’i during that time.
Brown feels Kapu embodies that same spirit. Brown has seen the business grow and expand. “We have a really awesome crew to work with, we always have fun with our customers, and try to keep people happy,” said Brown. “Kolohe is one of those guys who always puts you at ease and makes you smile.”
