San Diego’s Ryan Hanratty followed up a first-round 70 with a second-round 71 to take the individual lead after 36 holes of action at the Kaua’i Collegiate Cup at Princeville Makai.
Despite Hanratty’s effort, the University of San Diego trailed Eastern Michigan University by a single stroke after Friday’s opening rounds. Eastern Michigan’s four players fired a first day total of 587; San Diego notched a 588.
Marquette University is in third place with 592; then Samford (602); host Western Kentucky (604); Cincinnati (605); Drake University (610); and Dartmouth College (611).
The final round will be played Saturday morning with Western Kentucky, Cincinnati and Samford teeing off at 7:30 a.m. Drake and Dartmouth will tee off at 7:56 a.m. from the 10th tee followed by Eastern Michigan, Marquette and San Diego at 8:12 a.m. San Diego will be going for its second consecutive Kaua’i Cup. USD held off Western Kentucky last year.
Hanratty was the medalist for round one along with Dartmouth’s Lee Birchall. The round-two medalist was Cincinnati’s Neil Lykins.
