A Kalaheo Elementary School second-grader’s paper airplane caught a gust of wind for a smooth banking flight during last Friday’s “Flying High” airshow at the school. The even culminated about two weeks of studying in which students designed and tested their flying creations as a fund-raiser to purchase phonics and spelling workbooks for 80 students in four second-grade classes. The books were slashed from the teachers’ original budget request.
