The Kapa’a Warriors’ run at the Boys Basketball State Championships came to an end Friday. The Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation champions lost 59-45 to Baldwin in a consolation semifinal.
Trailing 33-21 at halftime, Kapa’a (12-8) was able to crawl back into the game behind an eight-point third quarter from senior Kapu Hendricksen. The guard, who finished with a team-high 12 points, connected for a variety of buckets and the Warriors got to within 39-36.
But the Bears, of the Maui Interscholastic Association, proved too tough as they pulled away in the final period.
