From TGI Reports –
Either the Kapa’a Warriors didn’t get enough sleep Tuesday night or there were some sensitive referee whistles at Aloha Stadium Wednesday.
The Warriors fell 1-0 to Kalani in the opening round of the 2001 Boys State Soccer Championships.
Kapa’a was cited for 30 fouls to Kalani’s 16. The Warriors also received five yellow cards and three red cards (automatic suspension from game).
“It was a poorly officiated game, a very ugly match,” Kapa’a coach Wade Bosworth said. “I thought we really outplayed them, but we just couldn’t put any balls in the net.
“We had our chances.”
The loss dropped the Warriors (7-2-2) into the consolation bracket at the state tournament. They will face the loser of the Kamehameha-Aiea game Thursday morning at 11:30 at Aloha Stadium.
