From its beginnings in the 1970s, under the leadership of Marvin Otsuji, the Kaua’i District Tennis Association has been of great service to tennis players and lovers on the island of Kaua’i.
New for 2001, the KDTA will feature a new board of directors. The changes begin at the top, where Midi Yamanaka succeeds Barbara Bennett as president.
Anny Miyamoto will serve as vice president; Judy Honda will take over as secretary; Tammy Quinlan, treasurer; Ed Renalter, adult island coordinator; Peter McClaran and Johnathan Tom, junior league coordinators; Darlene Joseph, adult representative to the HPS.
The KDTA represents all tennis activities on the island of Kaua’i. Both junior and adult programs are affiliated with the USTA Hawai’i Pacific Section.

Golf rules clinic
Ron Read of the United State Golf Association will present a two-hour rules clinic on each of four islands for all high school coaches and players.
The Kaua’i installment of the clinic will be held Wednesday, Feb. 14 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Kaua’i High School cafeteria.
The public is invited to attend. There is no charge.
Class on parenting athletes this Tuesday
The vital role of parents is supporting athletes and coaches will be discussed in a workshop sponsored by the Kaua’i County Parks and Recreation department. The gathering will take place Tuesday, Feb. 20 from 5-9 p.m. at War Memorial Convention Hall.
Scheduled presenters are Dr. George Selleck, Ph.D, Dr. David Epperson, Ph.D, Dr. Marty Miller, Ph.D and Dr. Paul Arrington, Ph. D.
