Hawai’i Chief Justice Ronald T.Y. Moon Tuesday appointed Trudy K. Senda as judge of the District Court of the Fifth Judicial Circuit on Kaua’i.
Senda was chosen from six nominees submitted by the Judicial Selection Commission. The list included current Kaua’i County Councilman Randal Valenciano.
Senda is an associate with Valenciano’s law office on Kaua’i.
Her appointment is now subject to state Senate confirmation, but none of Moon’s previous appointments have been challenged.
Senda has been a lawyer in private practice in Hawai’i since 1983.
A law graduate of the University of Hawai`i’s William Richardson School of Law, Senda will fill the judgeship vacated by Clifford Nakea, who was elevated to Fifth Circuit Court last September.
