Esperanza Belmonte Diaz
Esperanza Belmonte Diaz of Kilauea, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 26, 2001, at the age of 85.
Born in Philippines, on Aug. 2, 1915, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband: Emilio Diaz of Kilauea; three sons: Benjamin (Paz) Diaz of Canada; Dr. Arnulfo (Luz) Diaz of Wailua Homesteads; Alfredo (Bobbi) Diaz of Florida; three daughters: Purificacion (Larry) Dizon of Lawa’i; Theresita (Renato) Aoanan of Canada; Rolinda (Felix) Deyro of Kalaheo; three brothers: Arthur (Helen) Belmonte of Las Vegas; Isidro (Essie) Belmonte of Kilauea; Remegio (Ethel) Belmonte of California, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, Feb. 6, at St. Sylvester’s Catholic Church in Kilauea from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday, Feb. 7, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Mass to be celebrated by Father Paul. Burial at the Kaua’i War Memorial Garden. Casual attire is suggested.

Violeta Dela Cruz Bautista
Violeta Dela Cruz Bautista of Hanama’ulu, Kaua’i, died at Queens Medical Center on Jan. 27, 2001 at the age of 66.
Born in Philippines, on March 21, 1934, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband: Loduvico Bautista of Kaua’i; three daughters: Erlinda (Mateo) Sebastion of Kaua’i; Consolacion (Apolinario) Tadeo of Hilo; Corazon (Romulo) De Guzman of Las Vegas; four sons: Jaime (Estrelita) Bautista of Kaua’i; Erlindo Bautista of Hilo; Loreto (Nancy) Bautista of Kona; Judie (Jocelyn) Bautista, Sr. of Kaua’i, 22 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins with five brothers all in the Philippines.
Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Borthwick Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Visitation are again scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, 2001 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kapaia from 9 a.m. Mass to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at the Lihu’e County Cemetery Casual Attire is suggested.

Eric Sung Ho Kim
Eric Sung Ho Kim of Kapa’a, Kaua’i, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 29, 2001 at the age of 80.
Born in Kohala, Hawai’i on Feb. 22, 1920, he was Head Custodian for The State of Hawai’i.
He is survived by his two daughters: Belinda (Jimmy) Gonda of Kapa’a, Claudette (Don) Watanabe of Mililani; one son Cedric Kim of Kapa’a; one brother: Poko (Mary Kay) Kim of California, 5 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family on Monday, Feb. 5, 2001 at the Lihu’e Baptiste Church in Lihu’e from 4 p.m. Services to be celebrated at 5 p.m. Visitation are again scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001 at Honolulu Borthwick Mauka Chapel from 9 a.m. services to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Hawaiian Memorial Park at 12 noon. Casual attire is suggested.

Sono Aoki
Sono Aoki, of ‘Omao, Kaua’i, died at Hale ‘Oma’o Care Home on Jan. 27, 2001, at the age of 93.
Born in Olaa, Big Island on Aug. 2, 1907, she was a retired cook helper and waitress with Paradise Caf.
She is survived by: two sons: Masayoshi Aoki of Honolulu, O’ahu and Hisashi (Mitsue) Aoki of Lihu’e, Kaua’i; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister: Misuyo Okabayashi of Hilo, Big Island; numerous nieces and nephews.
Service were private.

Richard Walsh
Richard “Captain” Walsh, of Kapa’a, died at Wilcox Memorial Hospital on Jan. 28, 2001, at the age of 71.
Born in New York, N.Y. on Nov. 23, 1929, he was the retired proprietor of Printing Services in New York. On Kaua’i, he owned Captain and the Cook restaurant.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Walsh of Kapa’a; three sons, Thomas (Theresa) Walsh of Stormville, N.Y., Richard (Barbara) Walsh of Hopatcong, N.J., and Michael Walsh of Deerpark, N.Y.; a daughter, Donna (Tom Maloney) Walsh of Dix Hills, N.Y.; six grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Oakely of Selden, N.Y.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 2, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Kapa’a; Mass officiated by Father Bruce will begin at 11 a.m. Donations may be made to Adopt-A-School Program. Casual attire is suggested and flowers omitted.
