The Hurricanes and Cobras fared well during the second round of action in the Koloa Pitch T-Ball league. The Hurricanes won all three of their games, including a January 13 showdown with the then-perfect Braves.
Hurricanes 11, Braves 8
In the battle of unbeatens, Aston Carbonel was 2-for-3 and banged a home run for the Hurricanes. The ‘Cames got 3-for-3 performances from Sara Phillips, Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo and Joshua Waalani-Matsusaka.
Carly Matsumoto was the only other Hurricane with two hits.
Trent Allianic led the Braves with three hits and a homer. Kimi Masumura and Branden Yamamoto were 3-for-3.
Braves with two hits were Dayne Murata and Michael Sylva.
Cobras 21, Yankees 20
In the week’s most thrilling game, Chandon Pajardo-Sarmiento went 4-for-5 (four doubles) to lead the Cobras to their first win. Cy Morishige was the other Cobra with four hits.
Cobras with three hits were Jordan Garcia, Taylor Pagador, Kaimana Lutey, Gavin Sagucio and Tiore Daligcon-Pomaikai. Cobras with two hits were Chysen Nagao, Braden Caires, Kevin Melchor and Tisha Ruiz.
For the Yankees, Christian Largo, Shana Tafiti and Kaioli Brun were 4-for-4. Makoa Carreira and Chancen Batmen turned in three hits while Chyson Goais, Keola Carreira, Brayden Hiraoka and Kalechi Young were good for two apiece.
Hurricanes 28, Indians 2
All but one Hurricane that stepped to the plate came away with a hit in this game. Aston Carbonel, Markus Oketani, Carly Matsumoto and Joey Colmenero were all 4-for-4 and Colmenero hit a home run as well.
The Hurricanes got three hits from Sara Phillips, Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo, Joshua Waalani-Matsusaka and Tanner Rivera. They got two hits from Ashleigh Carbonel, Kainoa French and Kaimoa Matsumoto.
Hurricanes 22, Yankees 9
The ‘Canes got a 4-for-4 performance, including a home run and two doubles from Joey Colmenero. Sara Phillips and Kaulana Waalani-Arroyo also were 4-for-4.
The Hurricanes got two hits from Aston Carbonel, Markus Oketani, Josh Waalani-Matsusaka, Tanner Rivera, Ashleigh Carbonel, Kaina French, Kendall Rivera and Yaemi Felipe
The Yankees were led by an outstanding performance from Shana Tafiti, who was 4-for-4 and cracked three home runs. Christian Largo was 4-for-4. Chancen Batmen recorded three hits. The Yankees got two hits from Chyson Goais, Davelyn Tafiti and Makoa Carreira.
Cobras 18, Indians 16
The Cobras won another thriller last Wednesday, as all but one batter who made a plate appearance got a hit.
Taylor Pagador led the charge, going 4-for-4. The Cobras got three hits from Jordan Garcia, Kaimana Lutey, Braden Caires and Kevin Melchor. They got two hits from Chysen Nagao, Gavin Sagucio and Kaitlin Santos.
The Indians were led by Joey Brun’s 3-for-3 performance that included a home run. The Indians got three hits from Kienan Allianic-Rapozo.
They got two hits from Anthony Gammerino, Shaylece Masuda, Travis Rayno, Jace Ruiz, Dyson Kepano, Garret Gushiken, Alayna Negrillo and Chad Okino.
Braves 22, Yankees 10
Trent Allianic was 4-for-4 and hit two home runs in the commanding win. Branden Yamamoto, Dayne Murata and Dustin Prem also were 4-for-4. Shawn Mercado got three hits for the Braves. The team got two hits from Kimi Masumura, Michael Sylva, Kunane Ludington and Tarin Brun.
Shana Tafiti cotinued to shine at the plate for the Yankees with a 3-for-3 outing, including a homer. The Yanks also got three hits from Christian Largo. They got two hits from Chyson Goais, Chancen Bateman, Kaioli Brun, Brayden Hiraoka and Davelyn Tafiti.
