Mitsue Kitabayashi
Mitsue S. Kitabayashi of Kapa’a, died Jan. 23, 2001, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 79.
A homemaker, she was born Oct. 23, 1921 in Kapa’a.
She is survived by two sons: Kenneth (Ellen) Kitabayashi of Kapa’a and Alan (Linda) Kitabayashi of San Diego, Calif.; one brother: Sazuku Sakata of Kapa’a; three sisters: Hatsume Shimamoto of Kapa’a, Hazel Nakashima of Kapa’a, and Jeanette (George) Oishi of Kapa’a; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; five grandchildren.
Private services were held. Arrangements were handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Nancy Dochterman
Nancy E. Dochterman of Irvington passed away Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000 in Richmond. She was the widow of Lt. Col. L.B. Dochterman, USMC (retired). She was the daughter of Ralph & Betty Garlinghouse who lived on Kaua’i for over 50 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Mary L. Hayes of Chapel Hill, N.C., Margaret W. Lowe of Ashburn, Va. and Kristin D. Carver of Richmond; also two granddaughters, two brothers, Spalding Garlinghouse of Madison, Wis., and Lihu’e and Grant Garlinghouse of Littleton, Co.
Mrs. Dochterman was born in Lihu’e, Hawai’i on September 3, 1922. A graduate of Punahou School in Honolulu, she received her BA degree from UCLA in 1943. Upon graduation, she received a commission as a US Navy Wave and served as a communications officer in New York City during W.W.II.
After living abroad and in northern Virginia where she worked for United Airlines for 15 years, the Dochtermans retired in Irvington. A memorial service was held on December 5, 2000 at Quantico National Cemetery.
Albert Iokepa Sr.
Albert Kawaiiho’olana “Big Boy” Iokepa, Sr. of Waldorf, Maryland and formerly of Hilo, Hawai’i, died on Jan. 2, 1001 at his daughters resident in Maryland at the age of 68.
A retired truck driver for the State of Hawai’i, Dept. of Education; a former employee of Hawaiian Airlines, and with his wife, was the former co-owner of Tri-Com Hawai’i, Inc. He was also a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Hilo. He was born on April 11, 1932.
He is survived by his wife: Darlene S. Iokepa of Waldorf, Maryland; three sons: Albert (Lulani) Iokepa, Jr., of Honolulu, Oahu; Donald (Lynn) Iokepa of Hilo, HI; Robert (Judy) Iokepa of Keaau, HI; two daughters: Karen (Maverick) Rodrigues of Keaau, HI; Lee Anne (James) Manley of Waldorf, Maryland; one brother: Arthur Iokepa, Sr. of Hilo, HI; one sister: Annie Rose (David) Pitoy of Hilo, HI; 14 grandchildren and a lot of cousins and other relatives living on Kaua’i.
Services we held on Jan. 22, 2001 at the Dodo Mortuary Chapel and on Jan. 23, 2001 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church.
