A group of Kaua’i County Police officers, including vice detectives and youth services officers, arrested a 32-year-old local man outside a Lihu’e apartment yesterday after a brief scuffle.
Police chief inspector Melvin Morris said the suspect, who was wanted on multiple criminal charges, had evaded officers by jumping over an apartment railing and fleeing.
“He tried that again, but this time we were ready for him,” Morris said, adding the suspect had been evading police for a couple weeks.
Morris, who had no information this morning on the charges against the suspect, said officers surrounded a Lihu’e Townhouse apartment and arrested the suspect when he once again tried to flee.
