Ryan A. Masumoto of Koloa, Kauai, died on Dec. 15, 2000 at Kaua’i
Veterans Memorial Hospital at the age of 32.

He is survived by: one

Manuel Sr.
Mebine “Ben” “Peanut” Manuel Sr. of Kekaha,
Kauai, died at home on Dec 19, 2000. Born in Pepeekeo, Big Island, Hawaii on
the 30th of January 1934 at the age of 66,
Mr. Manuel served in the United
States Army with almost 22 years of service, achieving the rank of Sergeant
First Class. He retired as an Army Medical Nurse with William Beaumont General
Hospital in El Paso, TX.
He moved to Kauai, Hawaii in 1979, where he was
employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Kauai Veterans Memorial Hospital
(KVMH). After serving 17 years, he retired from KVMH in February 1996. While
residing on Kauai, Mr Manuel was elected first as the Disabled American
Veterans Commander for Kauai Chapter 5 organization from 1988-1990 and then the
DAV Commander for the state of Hawaii from the periods 1990 to 1991.
He is
survived by: his wife: Priscilla Villamil Manuel of Kekaha, Kauai; three sons:
Mebine “Beany” “Manny” (Virginia) Manuel, Jr of Hampton,
VA; Mervine (Estela) Manuel of Hickam AFB, HI; Melvine “Mel”
“Dean” (Yolanda) Manuel of Lihue, Kauai, HI; six grandchildren; five
brothers: Stephen Manuel of Anchorage, Alaska, Maximino Manuel of Waianae,
Hawaii, Larry Manuel of Highland, Calif., Mahi Manuel and Peter Manuel, both
of Waianae, Hawaii; two sisters: Iwalani Maafala and Nora Manuel, both of
Waianae, Hawaii; numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec 30,
at the Hanapepe Kauai Veterans Cemetery Pavilion. Service will be officiated
by the Rev. Villamore Galiza of Aloha Church, Lihue, Kauai at 11 a.m., followed
by interment, and will conclude with a Military Honors ceremony.

Thomas Hines
Thomas Richard Hines of Lihu’e,
Kaua’i, died Dec. 21, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.
A
superintendent in the recreational industry, he was born Sept. 30, 1923, in
California.
He is survived by three children: Thomas (Doeann) Hines Jr. of
O’ahu; Kellie (Steven) Pleas of Lihu’e, and Samuel Heen of Colorado; eight
grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces.
Services are scheduled for
Friday, Dec. 29, at St. Michael’s Episcopal and All Angels Church in Lihue at 5
p.m.
Casual attire is suggested. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
in his memory to Wilcox Hospital Foundation or St. Michael’s and All Angels
Church/Parkinson’s Foundation. Arrangements are being handled by
Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
Charles Kauhaahaa Kaliloa Sr.
Charles
Kauhaahaa Kaliloa Sr. of Anahola, died Dec.21, 2000 at Wilcox Memorial Hospital
at the age of 73.
A retired Installer Repairman for Hawaiian Telephone
Company, he also served in the U.S. Army. He was born on Feb. 8, 1927, in
Kapaia, Kaua’i.
He is survived by his wife; Loke Keale Kaliloa Sr., of
Anahola; five sons: Wayne (Phyllis) Vidinha of Kapa’a, Harold Vidinha of Koloa,
Chala Vidinha of Kalaheo, Charles (Aloha) Kaliloa Jr., of Kekaha, and Arthur
(Sissy) Kahale of Koloa; three daughters: Rose “Loke” Dahle of Anahola,
Katherine “Momi” Kaliloa of Kapa’a, and Lorrie Lee “Bobbie” (Kenneth) Rapozo of
Wailua; hanai son Chris (Debbie) Gusukuma; one sister: Mabel Timmerman of
Lihu’e, 28 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.,
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 28, at Borthwick Kaua’i
Mortuary Chapel in Koloa, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Services to be celebrated at
7:30 p.m. Friends may call again on Friday, Dec. 29, at Borthwick Kaua’i
Mortuary Chapel from 9 a.m. with services to be celebrated at 11 a.m. by Kahu
Wayne Vidinha. Burial to follow at the Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery.
