Kudos to the Hawai’i Nurses Association for stepping to the plate and raising important introductory issues concerning Wilcox Memorial Hospital’s proposed merger with Kapi’olani and Straub.

Why didn’t Dave Patton, Cathy Adams and company initiate a process and dialogue with nurses and even patients when talk of a merger surfaced at least a year ago? Nurses as primary caregivers and patients as customers deserve respect in the corporate culture of Wilcox.

Nurses and patient representatives need to be at the table now.
