The Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation softball season gets underway Wednesday at Kapa’a Ballpark when the Warriors host the Waimea Menehunes. Waimea is the defending KIF champions, having finished 10-1 in the league last season. The Menehunes advanced to the state playoffs.
The Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation softball season gets underway Wednesday
at Kapa’a Ballpark when the Warriors host the Waimea Menehunes.
Waimea is
the defending KIF champions, having finished 10-1 in the league last season.
The Menehunes advanced to the state playoffs. There they got a first-round win
over Kalaheo, before falling 9-2 in the second round to Iolani.
Waimea
returns powerful pitcher Albette Nawai to the mound. Nawai threw the state
championship victory last season. The Menehunes also feature another pitcher,
Bridgett Louis.
Kapa’a ended second in the KIF last season with a 6-6
record, and this season will try and push Waimea even further.
Kaua’i
finished 1-10 in the KIF last season.
The Warriors finished with two
victories in the Waimea High School Thanksgiving Softball Tournament.
Waimea got one win and Kaua’i got one win.

December 13 – Kapa’a vs. Waimea, at Kapa’a Ball Park
(5:30 p.m.)
December 16 – Kaua’i vs. Kapa’a, at Isenberg Field (Noon,
doubleheader)
December 20 – Waimea vs. Kaua’i, Waimea Canyon Park (5:30
p.m.)
December 23 – Waimea vs. Kapa’a, Waimea Canyon Park (noon,
doubleheader)
December 27 – Kapa’a vs. Kaua’i, Kapa’a Ball Park (5:30
p.m.)
December 30 – Kaua’i vs. Waimea, Isenberg Field (noon,
doubleheader)
The Hawai’i High School Athletic Association Championships
are scheduled for January 31-February 3
