Deana is the mother of four children – Barbara, 6, Kerri, 5, Billy, 2, and
Meli, who is a month old.
They have been homeless for three years. Steve,
the father of the children, has been unable to find work for the past five
years. Living on a small fixed income that does not allow for many things, the
family would appreciate some clothing and shoes this Christmas.
Sally
making an effort to rebuild her life
Sally has suffered a great loss in
the past year: Both her fiancé and her son died. This sent her into a
severe depression, which resulted in her losing her job.
But she has some
family support and receives temporary disability, and she finally feels that
she can get back into the real world and start working.
She is also trying
to get some dental work completed because she has major decay and has only a
few teeth on the top. She is embarrassed to go on job interviews because of her
appearance when she smiles.
Sally would like some help with the dental
work, which she is not able to afford. She could also use a new outfit to boost
her self-esteem when she is able to go job-hunting.
Bus pass and
clothes would help Makana
Makana is 52 years old. He lost financial aid due
to questions regarding his disability. He is willing to work, but at times his
medical condition is so bad that he is bedridden.
He lives in low-income
housing with help from friends to pay for rent. Makana knows he can’t keep
depending on his friends, so he is looking for work. He will soon be attending
some job-training classes to brush up on his skills.
Makana does not have
a car, so what he really needs when he goes job interviews are some bus passes
and a new outfit to wear.
