Ever wanted to help decide how to spend hundreds of thousands of federal dollars? Meetings next month offer that chance.
Jan. 2 in Waimea, Jan. 3 in Kapa’a and Jan. 4 in Princeville, Kauaians will be asked for their input on protection of the island’s shoreline areas. Consultants and University of Hawai’i Sea Grant Extension officials are scheduling the meetings, and other ones elsewhere in the state, to help pinpoint ways to use big federal money to enhance and safeguard the coastal environments.
Wetlands, endangered animals and plants, ocean resources – it’s all on the table for the public to discuss. This will be one time when citizens can’t say they weren’t asked what they thought.
