A mechanic for many
fishermen and friends, he was born April 1, 1942, in California.
He is
survived by one son: Michael (Sherrie) Seltzer of California; one daughter:
Joanne; two sisters: Sharon Salisbury and Joanne Plemmons, both of California;
two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services and scattering of
ashes and celebration of his life will be held at Black Pot Beach Park, Hanalei
Pier, at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Casual attire is suggested.

Margaret
Towler
Margaret Evelyn Frantz Towler, of Wailua, Kaua’i, died at her home
on Nov. 25, 2000, at the age of 79.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1921, in
Pennsylvania. A World War II veteran, Margaret was one of the first women to
enlist in the south in the Marine Corps Women’s Reserve. She served for three
years, first in recruiting in Atlanta, Ga., then as secretary to a commanding
general in El Toro, Calif.
She moved to O’ahu, in 1947 and worked for
eight years as a personal secretary to the manager of the Moana-Surfrider
Hotels before getting married and moving to Kaua’i in 1956, where she and her
late husband, Donald Bert Towler, owned and operated businesses for many years,
including gift shops at Hanalei Plantation and Coco Palms, and the Blue Door
and Village Gallery Art Shops.
She is survived by daughters, April
Kaulukukui and Michele Tower, grandchildren, Maile and Donald Kaulukukui and
Jaret and Kayli Towler, sister Grace Young, PA., aunt to Colonel David Young
III, USAF, HI., June Platz, Pa., Caro Gerry, PA., and Elaine Houpt,
Pa.
Private services will be held. Arrangements are being handled by
Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary. Donations in her memory may be made to Kaua’i
Hospice and the American Cancer Society.
James Bauer
James “Jim”
Leslie Bauer of Kent, Wash. and also of Kapa’a, died Nov. 21, 2000, at his home
at the age of 79.
Born Dec. 17, 290, he worked with the family-owned Kent
Bakery for 55 years and at Strain’s Auto Sales. He also served in the U.S. Navy
during World War II and for Bell-Anderson Realty. He and his wife were
part-time residents of Kapa’a for 20 years.
He is survived by his wife:
Dorothy Bauer of Kent, Wash., two daughters: Toni (Walter) Graham of Kaneohe,
HI and Christy (Rick) Coplen of Olympia, Wash.; three
grandchildren.
Private family memorial services were held. Arrangements
were handled by Edline-Yahn Funeral Chapel.

Joseph Souza Brun
of Kalaheo died Nov. 26, 2000, at Wilcox Hospital at the age of 85.
A
proprietor in the ranching industry, he was born Jan. 12, 1915, in Koloa,
Kaua’i.
He is survived by two sisters: Mary Souza of O’ahu, Margaret Souza
of California; one brother: Arthur Brun of Kalaheo; three sisters-in-law;
caregiver: Francis (Aileen) of Kalaheo; numerous nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 30, at 9 a.m Mass to be
celebrated at 10 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kalaheo. Burial to
follow at Holy Cross Church cemetery.
Aloha attire is suggested.
