He is
survived by: his wife: Dollyan E. Basa of Kekaha, Kauai; six daughters: Serena
(Bobby) Franco of Koloa, Kauai, Valerie (Kaipo) Ludington of Wailua, Kauai,
Darlene (George) Pereira of Kekaha, Kauai, Allison Demery of Kekaha, Kauai,
Janell (Dino) Basa of Upland, Calif., and Kelsey Basa of Kekaha, Kauai; seven
grandchildren; one brother: Elpidio Basa of Minnesota; three sisters: Carlena
Bobiles of Makaweli, Kauai, Josephine Najita of Oklahoma, and Paulina Ikeda of
Maryland; numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family
at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
Church, Kekaha Ward; service officiated by Bishop Wright will begin at 4 p.m.
Aloha attire is suggested.

Tranquilino Valdez
Tranquilino Hiro Valdez of Kekaha
died Nov. 21, 2000, at his home at the age of 91.
A crane operator with
McBryde Sugar Industry, he was born Aug. 29, 1909, in the Philippines.
He
is survived by his wife: Felicidad Batis Valdez of Kekaha; three sons: Charles
Valdez of Kekaha, Ronald (Novena) Valdez of ‘Ele’ele, and Stanford Valdez of
Kalaheo; three daughters; Juliette Valdez of Waipahu, O’ahu, Erlinda (Dennis)
Schliewe of California and Sylvia (Eli) Pablo of Kaumakani; 11 grandchildren,
two great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visitation is
scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 3, at Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary Chapel in Koloa,
from 8:30 a.m. Services to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the
Hanapepe Public Cemetery.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are
being handled by Borthwick/Kaua’i Mortuary.
