From TGI Staff Reports
For the seventh time in a row, the island of Kaua’i will be home to the
exclusive PGA Grand Slam of Golf November 20-22.
It is an event that
brings the winners of the four major tournaments — the Masters, U.S. Open,
British Open and PGA Championship — together for two days of
competition.
Po’ipu Bay Golf Course & Hyatt Regency Kaua’i Resort &
Spa again will host the event, which this year will feature two-time defending
champion Tiger Woods, Vijay Singh, Tom Lehman and Paul Azinger.
Woods
earned his slot with wins at the U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship.
Singh got in with a victory at the Masters. By virtue of Woods’ three triumphs,
two alternate spots were opened. Lehman and Azinger were awarded those.
As
in the recent past, the Grand Slam will be televised on Turner Network
Television (TNT) for a total of six hours over two days. The telecast will
bring world-class golf and the island of Kaua’i into 77.6 million U.S. homes
and more than 100 countries worldwide.
That audience will watch the four
men battle for a purse of $1,00,000. The winner will receive $400,000, $250,000
will go to the second-place finisher, $200,000 to the third and a respectable
$150,000 to the fourth.
