I have just received my copy of The Garden Island, dated Nov. 4, and may I
quote Gene Bullock, chairman, Kaua’i County Salary Commission (“Salary
Commission’s time, effort wasted”)?
“Let’s face it, this complete affair
has turned into a bucket of worms, as it would be politically incorrect and of
course political suicide for anyone to be in favor of this recommendation. Just
for the record, over the last eight years, 21 taxpayers and citizens of Kaua’i
composing three Salary Commissions have all recommended a raise for these
individuals. Each and every one were turned down by the council, which has
control of the funding. We heard that this just isn’t the right
time.
“Let’s face it, the right time with each and every citizen happy and
pleased, our county completely trouble-free and having tons of money is a
dreamland fantasy we might find in that never-never land of long
ago.”
Excuse me, Mr. Bullock, but am I missing something? Am I blind or
deaf?
The Police Department — with no money – had to turn to the general
business companies and Kaua’i individuals to purchase what for the police
officers?
Kaua’i citizens had their beautification and motor vehicle taxes
increased to remove junk cars and what?
Some roads in the Kekaha camp areas
are so bad, the county probably needs what?
My list of whats is so long, I
give up!
