Kimo Keanu Evans really is a candidate for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board
of Trustees.
The Kilauea man is the only Kaua’i candidate out of 51 who
have filed papers seeking one of three OHA seats with no island residency
requirements in the special-vacancy election that’s part of the general
election next Tuesday.
It was reported after the mid-September filing
deadline for candidates for the Kaua’i OHA seat that Evans didn’t qualify
because he did not have the required number of signatures on his election
eligibility paperwork.
He is a candidate for one of the three seats up for
grabs among candidates not required to have any particular island
residency.
