Shooting its final match of the Kaua’i Interscholastic Federation
season, Waimea cruised past Kaua’i to remain perfect in both boys and girls
competition.
The Menehunes’ boys defeated the Red Raiders 1,151-1029, while
the girls eclipsed the Lady Raiders 1,161-932.
Albert Santos led the way
for the Waimea boys, shooting a 253 – out of a possible 300. It was the fourth
time Santos has been over the 250 bench mark, considered by coach Major Victor
Aguilar to signify the upper echelon of shooters.
He will lead the KIF team
into the state shooting championships November 2-3 at St. Louis School on
Oahu.
Also shooting well for the Menehunes was Davin Taniguchi (238), Fred
Flores (226), Randall Ramos (223) and Mark Medina (211).
Aaron Teves shot a
231 to lead the way for the Red Raiders. The rest of the top five panned out
this way: Chad Shibuya (217), Ryan Uyesono (211), Craig Rodriquera (190) and
Andrew Barklow (180).
Jamie Koerte — who shot a 244 — led the way for the
Waimea girls in their dominating win. The other four top finishers were
Benjilyn Shaffer (243), Kristen Aguilar (236), Danielle Ponte (228) and Ashley
Canon (216).
The Red Raiders were paced by Victoria Tsugawa’s 215. Ashley
Oishi and Sheryl Okamura shot 181s, Kristine Guzman a 179 and Malia Sheldon a
176 to round out the Kaua’i top five.
Island School Boys 1,032, Kapa’a

Kapa’a Girls 918, Island School 326
Led by Drew Goldsman’s 224,
host Island School boys defeated Kapa’a in Thursday riflery action. Other top
scores for Island School were: Jamori Mori (220), Leif Moon-Neilson (215), Nick
Ellenburg (187) and Justin Geuber (186). The Warriors’ top shooter was Jonathan
Ibanez (204). The rest of the top five were: Jason Skinner (202), Jan Hase
(197), Jordan Rabot (179) and Glen Ramos (173).
Behind Patricia Fernandez’s
226, the Kapa’a girls defeated Island School. The Warriors’ top five panned out
this way: Chasity Ito (193), Stephanie Cuyo (181), Wency Luczon (161) and Nani
Dinnan (154).
Island School was led by Erin Shaw, who shot a 167. Jenny
Geuber shot a 159.
