A Kaua’i man was airlifted out of Waimea Valley by a rescue helicopter Tuesday
afternoon after he was injured after falling out of a vehicle.
The man,
who was not identified, suffered a laceration to the back of the head and on
his forehead, the Kaua’i Fire Department reported.
The man was conscious
but complained of chest pains after the 3:50 p.m. incident, which was reported
initially to Kaua’i Police dispatchers.
The man was apparently part of a
work crew and was in a vehicle on a dirt road more than four miles from Waimea
Town when he fell from the vehicle, according to the fire department.
A
search and rescue team from the Lihu’e fire station flew to the area in an
Air-One helicopter, stabilized the man on a safety backboard and airlifted him
to the Waimea Canyon School parking lot. There, paramedics with American
Medical Response treated him.
