Puhi Paint needed overtime to do it, but remained perfect in the Kaua’i men’s
open basketball league, defeating the Red Dirt Boys 76-68 Sunday night at
Kalaheo Community Center. Chris Acoba led Paint with 24 points
The game was
tied at 64 at the end of regulation, but the veteran Puhi team turned it on in
OT, outscoring the Boys 12-4.
Chad Gummerus scored 20 points for the Red
Dirt Boys.
Game 2 was not as close, as Lizard Lounge took care of the
Killahs 74-57 behind Brian Taylor’s 19 points. Roland Vieria and Rafael Andaya
scored 17 apiece for Lizard. Tony Brun was solid in defeat for the Killahs,
dropping 35 points.
Kuhio Motors got the best of Kimana in the final game,
67-52. Brian Doo scored a team-high 21 for Kuhio. Kimana’s Marcus Barnes led
all scorers with 28 points.
