Muraoka of Lihu’e; seven grandchildren; one brother: Kiyoshi Inouye of Koloa;
and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were private.
Arrangements were handled by Garden Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Reuben Miller Ohai of Gresham, Oregon, formerly of Kapa’a, Kaua’i,
died on Sept. 30, 2000, in Gresham, Oregon, at the age of 79. He was born on
Sept. 18, 1921 in Wailua Homesteads, Kaua’i.
A self-employed papaya farmer,
he was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kelly
Creek ward in Gresham, Oregon.
He is survived by his wife: Jean M. Ohai of
Gresham, formerly of Kapa’a; one daughter: Leilani Law of Fargo, North Dakota;
three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three brothers: Leo (Virginia)
Ohai of Honolulu, and Benjamin Ohai and Reynolds (Dorothy) Ohai, both of
California; three sisters: Alicia (Kanichi) Tanigawa of Hanapepe, and Evelyn
(William) Fernandes and Sarah Nakamura, both of Kapa’a; and numerous nieces and
nephews and cousins.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on
Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Kapa’a
ward. Service officiated by Bishop Richard Sheldon will begin at 10 a.m. Burial
will follow at Kaua’i Veterans Cemetery in Hanapepe.
Casual or aloha
attire is suggested. Local arrangements are being handled by Garden Island
Mortuary, Ltd.
