Even without the services of freshman Jordan Dizon, the Menehunes were
able to shutout the Red Raiders 14-0 at Vidinha Stadium Friday
night.
Dizon, the standout tailback who has scored 24 points for the Waimea
jayvee, was promoted to varsity for the Kaua’i game. He ran for 80 yards and
scored a touchdown at the advanced level.
But coaches left sophomore Rayson
Cacal to do damage. The tailback ran for a 20-yard TD midway through the second
quarter to get Waimea on the board. Corey Rita booted the extra point for a 7-0
lead. It was Cacal’s 52 point of the season, a league high.
Austin Arthur
added an insurance TD for the Menehunes later in the second quarter when he
recovered a Red Raider fumble and ran 17 yards for the score. Waimea has
yielded just seven points all season.
