Fortunato Pablo Fortunato Batoon Pablo of ‘Ele’ele, Kaua’i, died on Oct.
7, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the age of 85.
A retired
groundskeeper for Rehabilitation Unlimited of Kaua’i, he was born on Oct. 14,
1914 in San Nicholas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines.
He is survived by his
wife, Isidora Del Rosario Pablo of ‘Ele’ele; three sons: Rosendo (Juanita)
Pablo of ‘Ele’ele and Eden (Ador) Pablo and Efren (Esther) Pablo, both of
Philippines; three daughters: Prima (Leonardo) Cabatan of ‘Ele’ele, Leonora
(Aurelio) Felipe and Nicolasa (Juanito) Castillo, both of Philippines; 31
grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Friends may visit with the family Friday, Oct. 13, 6 p.m. at the
Garden Island Mortuary Chapel, with rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. Friends may
again visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Holy Cross
Catholic Church. Mass officiated by Father Keahi will begin at 10 a.m., with
burial to follow at the Hanapepe Public Cemetery. Services officiated by Father
Keahi will begin at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at the Kaua’i Memorial Gardens.
Casual attire is suggested. Arrangements are being handled by Garden
Island Mortuary, Ltd.

Richard Marshall Spies of
Hawai’i Kai died on Oct. 7, 2000, at the age of 69. A masonry contractor, he
was born in Chicago, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife: Penelope
“Penney;” one daughter: Karen Whalen; one son-in-law, John Whalen;
grandchildren, Piper and James Whalen all of Honolulu; one son: James “Jimmy”
Spies of Kaua’i; one brother: Jeffrey Spies of California.
Memorial
services will be held on Sunday, Oct. 15, 3-5 p.m. at the Waikiki Yacht Club.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society and/or Hospice
Hawai’i.
Arrangements are being handled by Ultimate Cremation Services of
Hawai’i.
