I am not interested in a continuing pro and con about the League of Women
Voters with Carol Bain and Andrea Gray. However, my memory of the event I
referred to is not clouded or distorted.
I discussed with the lonely
member of the panel who was against homosexual marriage, and his position on
the panel was arranged a week to 10 days before the panel discussion, not
August. I certainly have no objection to a fair and open discussion of events,
but that panel did not qualify as fair.
Each panel member was asked to make
an opening statement. I was astonished when the president of LWV from Oahu made
a strong opening statement in favor of homosexual marriage. I wonder if Carol
Bain really expects anyone to believe that it was just by chance or accident
that six of the seven panel members were in favor of homosexual marriage? I
guess this is what she calls a fair forum.
Formation of a panel to discuss
public issues should be carefully arranged so that it is not one-sided, but
does fairly present both sides of an issue. When that happens, I will applaud
LWV and support them.
I find it curious that when I express an opinion
contrary to that of Andrea Gray, that according to her it becomes hate
mail.
