For the second time in two years, I find myself responding to a letter
submitted to The Garden Island by Robert Yount.
The first time was during
the very heated political battle for or against “same sex marriage”.
Mr. Yount apparently was displeased with anyone who didn’t have the same
opinion as he, and continually expressed this in the newspaper.
After Mr.
Yount felt the need to belittle my opinion in The Garden Island, I replied back
and at that time gave him way more credit for his opinion than he
deserved.
Now, he is insulting the integrity of an organization I choose to
be a member of BECAUSE of its integrity.
Mr. Yount, it is part of the
League of Women Voters’ mission to keep citizens informed on issues for each
election. Sponsoring a public forum to discuss any “Constitutional
Amendment” questions falls under that category.
Perhaps it is Mr.
Yount who should apologize to the citizens of Kaua`i and Ni`ihau for subjecting
us to the hate mail he feels compelled to keep submitting to The Garden
Island.
