Born in Lihu’e,
Kaua’i on March 26, 1926, he was a retired Crane Operator with Lihu’e Sugar

He is survived by: his wife, Ramona Pimental of Lihu’e, Kaua’i;
three sons: Ernest (Carmen) Koerte Jr. of Wailua, Kaua’i, Ralph (Rosie) Koerte
of Omao, Kaua’i, and Richard (Kathleen) Koerte of Wailua, Kaua’i, daughter:
Gloria (Robert Girad) Corregedore of Puhi, Kaua’i; 10 grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; sister: Jessie Figuera of Omao, Kaua’i; numerous nieces
and nephews.
Friends may visit with the family at 9 a.m. on Wednesday,
Sept. 20, at the Lihu’e Lutheran Church; service officiated by Pastor Paul
Kirchner will begin at 10 a.m. Followed by burial at the Kaua’i Memorial
Gardens. Casual attire is suggested.

William Zimmerman
William Zimmerman
of North Palm Beach, Fla., died Sept. 9, 2000, at the age of 80.
He is
survived by his sisters: Ida Rubin, Rose Zimmerman and Sarah Tepper; three
children, Stuart Zimmerman, Marc Zimmerman and Susan Chroman, and 10
grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Zimmerman rose from a modest
background to become one of America’s most successful retailers, founding
closeout specialist Pic ‘N’ Save (now part of Consolidated Stores) in 1950 and
managing it until his retirement in 1985. A great supporter of children’s
causes and entrepreneurial education, Mr. Zimmerman and his foundation were
significant contributors to the Boys and Girls Clubs of America and the
National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship.
Memorial services will
be held in Los Angeles Sunday, Sept. 24.
Franklin Rowland
Franklin
Kealii Rowland of Kapa’a died Sept. 7, 2000, at Wilcox Memorial Hospital at the
age of 29.
Born April 8, 1971, he was a groundskeeper for Tree Trimmer
Allied Maint. and also volunteered for Boys & Girls Clubs as well as coaching
football and baseball and helping many children in sports.
He is survived
by one son: Jaron of O’ahu; his mother: Leal Benringer of O’ahu; three
brothers: Ian “Hoku” (Mahealani) Rowland of Kapa’a, James (Melissa) Carvalho of
Kapa’a and Sean Carvalho of O’ahu; his grandmother: Milly Alana of Honolulu;
one sister: Ixchel Carvalho of Kaneohe; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Friends and family may call on Saturday Sept. 23, at Lydgate
Beach Park from 9 a.m. for a memorial service.
Casual attire is suggested.
