KauaiWorld.com, the Web site of The Garden Island, is adding a new dimension to
the newspaper’s coverage of Kaua’i elections.
For the first time, an
ongoing archive of current Kaua’i County election coverage is available in one
place and in chronological order. As Decision 2000 articles appear in the daily
issues of The Garden Island, they are appearing on-line and their links are
being listed on a special Web page.
This allows readers to focus on the
entire campaign of candidates and to look back on special election issues, in
addition to reading the latest election news in The Garden
Island.
Interactive features are also available that are impossible to
produce on paper. For instance, voter registration forms can be downloaded, and
you can automatically find out where to vote on election day just by typing in
your address.
Perhaps the most prominent role of KauaiWorld.com in this
year’s election will occur on election days. As voter count printouts are made
available, they will be posted almost immediately on KauaiWorld.com, allowing
readers across Kaua’i and worldwide to rapidly find out who leads in the
election, or who has won.
The collection of election material culled from
The Garden Island will also be permanently archived to provide a broad picture
of the people and issues of election 2000 for future study.
To access the
online election coverage, look for the distinctive red, white and blue Decision
2000 icon at the bottom of the front page of KauaiWorld.com.
